Modelling the Apple Magic Mouse form in Solidworks

A while back I modelled the Magic Mouse in Rhino as a learning exercise. I decided it’d be a good exercise to also model the main form in Solidworks and compare experiences.

In Rhino I manually sculpted the CV’s of the main surfaces, whereas in Solidworks I had to rely on using curves to control the surfaces. I did quite a bit of experimentation that is not in the video; using loft vs boundary, swapping loft directions and different patch layouts.

The result is not as clean as the Rhino model, but with some more tweaking I’d get it close. One other thing I have mentioned in the video is using draft analysis as an ‘isophote’ hack to check your surface flow etc… Cheers, AJ
